SlDS and Kids Tasmania (Tasmanian Sudden Infant Death Society Inc.) is a community-based organisation, which was founded in 1978 by Marjorie Baker, a SIDS parent.

The society's initatial objectives were to provide monies for research into sudden infant death syndrome and to provide support for families.

Today, to oversee its services, SIDStasmania employs one full-time staff member and relies on volunteers, professionals and community assistance to fundraise, provide support, and assist with the running of the State office and branches.

There is no current Government funding.

Today our main priority is to raise funds for:

• research

• community education

• kids & SIDS information

• safe Sleeping for under 2's

• childhood safety practices

• student information

• application-based education lectures

• monitor for babies classed at risk

• support/referral options for any childhood sudden and unexpected death.
