About Us

History

The Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Association of South Australia Inc, now trading as SIDS and Kids, was formed by a group of parents in October 1977.  Our main aim was to raise funds for research and to educate the community about Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

Today we have a much broader charter encompassing support for families who experience sudden unexpected death of an infant or child from 20 weeks gestation to 6 years of age, education programs to reduce infant mortality and funding of research to find the causes of these deaths.

Our services are almost totally reliant on the generosity of the community, especially through our key annual fundraiser, Red Nose Day.

VALE MARY ZOLLO (deceased)  SIDS and Kids South Australia Founding President and  Life Member

Mary Zollo was our founding President and a Life Member of SIDS and Kids South Australia, Past Patron of the Sudden Infant Death Research Foundation Inc. Her commitment and drive following the death of her son Robert, helped to establish an organisation that has saved the lives of thousands of babies and funded millions of dollars in research. Our thoughts are with Charlie, Christine, Peter, Kathy and Paul at this sad time.

Mary’s work will continue to be  appreciated every day by the families who are supported by our organisation. At peace.
