SIDS and Kids Community Education

SIDS and Kids  provide a range of community education services to hospital staff, community-based health professionals and the general community, informing them of:

  • the role and activities of SIDS and Kids
  • the SIDS and Kids Safe Sleeping campaign.
  • Bereavement Support – caring for a family who has experienced the death of their baby or young child

Hospitals and Allied Health including:

  • Emergency Departments
  • Paediatric Units
  • Neonatal Intensive Care Units
  • Nursing, Medical and Allied Health

Community-based Health and Allied professionals including:

  • Community Midwives
  • Maternal Health Specialists
  • Child and Family Health Nurses
  • General Practitioners
  • Funeral Directors

Multicultural and Indigenous Health Services including:

  • Department of Community Services
  • Family Day Care Workers
  • Childcare Centres
  • Schools and Colleges
  • Medical, Nursing, Allied Health and Welfare students from Universities and TAFE Colleges

Emergency Service Workers including:

  • Ambulance Officers
  • Police Officers

Community Groups including:

  • Playgroups
  • Parents Groups

SIDS and Kids works collaboratively with relevant organisations and agencies to deliver our education services, including:

  • Environmental Tobacco Smoke Committee
  • KidSafe
  • Heart Foundation
  • Cancer Council
  • Asthma Foundation

Education services are implemented by SIDS and Kids by the Health Promotion Team and by trained volunteer Community Educators.
