COMMUNITY EDUCATION
SIDS and Kids NSW provides a range of community educational services to hospital and community-based health professionals and the general community, informing them of :
- The role and activities of SIDS and Kids NSW
- Bereavement Support - caring for a family who has experienced the death of their baby or young child.
- The SIDS and Kids Safe Sleeping campaign.
SIDS and Kids NSW conducts educational activities in many settings to a wide range of groups:
Hospital staff- Obstetric Units, Emergency Departments, Paediatric Units, NICU, nursing, medical & allied health.
Community-based health and allied professionals - Community Midwives, Maternal, Child and Family Health Nurses, General Practitioners, Funeral Directors.
Multicultural and Indigenous Health Services,
Department of Community Services, Family Day Care Workers, Childcare Centres. School, Colleges, Universities and TAFE- high school students , medical, nursing, allied health and welfare students.
Emergency service workers - Ambulance and Police.
Community groups- playgroups, parents groups.
Educational services are implemented throughout NSW by Sids & Kids, NSW Health Promotion Team and by accredited volunteer Community Educators.
