Education

We educate new parents, grandparents and anyone caring for infants and babies on our evidence-based 'Safe Sleeping' practices.  Although our safe sleeping program has seen a 90% reduction in SIDS since its inception we cannot become complacent and each new parent, grandparent and anyone caring for babies and infants needs to be aware of how to sleep baby safely.

Safe Sleeping Classes are run by our own professional educators and are held monthly at the office - this is an ACT initiative that other SIDS and Kids member organisations are interested in pursuing.

We educate health professionals and emergency and health care workers at seminars / conferences on a regular basis.

We educate the staff of Child Care Centres at their convenience in their centre.

In order to continue to provide these services free of charge, we really need donations from businesses and the general community.  Can you help? Donations over $2 are tax deductible.

Bereavement Support

We provide bereavement support to approximately 100 new families each year whose child has been stillborn or in the first 28 days of life. This includes support to the extended family, friends, work colleagues, hospital staff and anyone else affected by the death of a baby.

We also provide support to all families whose child dies from conception to six years of age.

We provide ongoing support to these families for as long as they need it.

We provide a 24 hour crisis support line staffed by counsellors and trained peer supporters.

We provide professional counselling by appointment, telephone and home visits.

We provide support groups to cater for the needs of our parents.
